Video editing punishes a desk in ways general office work never does. You're loading it with two or three heavy monitors, a control surface, an audio interface, maybe a broadcast monitor, and a tangle of cables that all need to survive the desk moving up and down. Here's how to build a sit-stand editing station that stays rock-solid and stays organized.

Stability comes first

The number that matters most is the frame's rated load capacity and, just as important, how little it wobbles at full standing height. A pile of monitors and gear can easily hit 80-120 lbs, so look for a frame rated well above that with a comfortable margin. Features that reduce wobble:

  • Dual-motor lifting columns for smooth, even travel under heavy load.
  • Three-stage legs, which are more stable at full height than two-stage.

Desktop material matters under heavy gear

A wide top loaded with monitors can sag or flex in the middle if the material is thin. For editing loads, favor a solid-core or thick laminate top, or a butcher-block/hardwood surface, over a hollow-core budget board.
